Mobile Point of Sale FAQs

Free up counter space with POSIM’s mobile point-of-sale app, iPOSIM. Integrated with your POSIM database, users can manage inventory and process sales from anywhere in your store.

The iPOSIM mobile point-of-sale app is available for download on the iTunes store, however users must have an available mobile seat connection ($299 one-time setup fee + $25/year for mobile support and updates). Contact the POSIM team today to inquire about a mobile seat connection.

Users must have POSIM 18 or newer with an Apple device (iPhone, iPad, iPod) with iOS 10 or newer to be compatible to run iPOSIM in-store.

After purchasing your mobile seat connection from POSIM, confirm that you have downloaded the iPOSIM mobile point-of-sale app from the iTunes store. Next, open “General Preferences” within POSIM from your computer and navigate to the “Extensions” tab on the server. Enable iPOSIM under “Extensions” and then close and reopen POSIM for the change to take effect. Once completed, open the iPOSIM mobile app from your Apple device (iPad, iPhone or iPod) and enter the IP address of your POSIM server.

Please note: To access your database, the mobile device must be connected to your store’s wireless network.

Unlimited. The POSIM database is designed to support an unlimited number of mobile seat connections. The mobile seat connections may also be shared as a concurrent user and used on more than one device. Users must purchase each mobile seat connection before setup and use.

Yes, you may complete card-present transactions using PayStream to capture a signature from the customer. Mobile card swipe hardware is available and will plug directly into your Apple device so that swiping may be completed directly from the device. Without integrated payments (PayStream), users will need other processing options outside of iPOSIM.

You may send items to the label queue to print barcodes – allowing you to relabel items on the move. However, you must be using POSIM from a computer or laptop to actually print the barcodes.

iPOSIM users may purchase a Socket Bluetooth Wireless Scanner for scanning barcodes and ID Tech Lightning Jack Card Swipe for processing card-present transactions. For printing receipts, please check out our Star TSP100 LAN Network printer.

First, confirm your IP address matches your POSIM database – this can be found by clicking the “v” at the top of the navigational toolbar.

Next, have you setup the correct Employee Privileges in POSIM? Employee privileges must be set up to allow users to access iPOSIM. If a user does not have the correct “privilege,” they will not be able to log in. Additionally, some actions, including editing items, pricing and manually opening cash drawers in iPOSIM, require employee privileges.

Users need to connect to the store’s network to access the POSIM database. If you leave the network, the mobile point-of-sale app will not be able to connect to the database to function properly.

However, POSIM does have a remote sales option that works in conjunction with POSIM. Contact a POSIM Sales Representative to learn more about this remote sales solution with POSIM.
